Early career


Alexander Zickler was born on February 28, 1974, in Bad Salzungen, Germany. Zickler played his entire youth time for Dynamo Dresden.


He made his Bundesliga debut on October, 23, 1992. He was substituted in the 68th minute against Nuremberg. He scored his first two Bundesliga goals on March 27, 1993, against Dortmund.


In summer 1993, Zickler moved to German record champion Bayern Munich. He made his debut for Munich on August 7, 1993, against SC Freiburg.


Zickler played 12 years for Bayern Munich. He won several national league titles, German Cup titles, and the UEFA Champions League in 2001 when Munich beat Valencia in the final.


In 2002, Zickler's began to have several health problems. He had a tumor in his right shinbone and missed the 2002 FIFA World Cup. He also suffered from several fatigue fractures in the following years and nobody really expected him to return in professional soccer.globebuy soccer jersey


Austrian League


In 2005, Zickler returned and signed a contract with Austrian team FC Red Bull Salzburg. He made his debut in the Austrian league on July 12, 2005, against Grazer AK. He played 31 games and scored 9 goals in his first season.


The following season would be even more successful for him and Salzburg. He scored 22 goals, became the league's best goal scorer and helped Salzburg winning the Austrian league title. He also became the league's top scorer in the following season (2007/2008).


In 2010, the club didn't extend Zickler's contract and he left the club after the season.


He joined LASK Linz and played his first game on August 21, 2010, against FC Wacker Innsbruck. He played 15 games and scored one goal. Zickler ended his professional soccer career at the end of the 2010/2011 season.globebuy soccer jersey


Germany


Alexander Zickler played for several German youth teams. He made his debut for the U21 team on November 16, 1993, against Luxemburg and also scored his first goal.


His first game for the german senior team was on November 18, 1998, against the Netherlands when he was substituted in the 72th minute. All in all, Zickler played 12 games and scored 2 goals for Germany. His last game was on October 11, 2002.
